Taking the Pain out of Topcoats!

Hey ReStyled Friends ,
Today, I’m going to tell you all about how to apply top coat using Dixie Belle Paint Polyurethane!
Picture
First of all, you can just leave your painted piece without poly but it will have a chalky feel to it, which is still nice and smooth. Remember, if you do not poly or wax your new piece is left unprotected & could be susceptible to stains, so it is always best to seal it with one or the other.

The awesome thing about Poly is it’s extra durability and protection that it gives and the nice sheen it adds to your piece.  I have decided that I’m going to apply a Dixie Belle Polyurethane in satin finish to my table. This will give my piece a finished look. This product is a water based Polyurethane. It cleans easily and goes on nicely.

Here are the steps I would take to seal my piece.
Step # 1 - there’s really only one step!
I have a damp sponge, no water should be coming out from it, and the Dixie Belle Polyurethane. I am going to show to you how easy it is. I am only going to do one top coat and will let it dry and do another coat. The number of coats will depend on how frequently you will use it. I generally do 2-3 very thin coats of the poly.
I want to do nice thin coats in one direction. It’s not going to be super shiny, it will have a satin finish.  I love the Polyurethane because is so quick to use, it’s not going to take me a long time. You might want to use a  damp brush with synthetic bristles but the sponge is nice because you can wipe it on. It makes it nice and quick. After 7 days, it’s totally cured and your piece is good to go!
