Does your curb appeal need a little pick-me-up? Painting your front door is a quick and easy way to put a little pizzazz back into your exterior. It’s so much easier than planting all of those new bushes you’ve been thinking about. I’ve got you! It’s a quick and easy project that won’t even take you half a day! After you’ve picked the perfect color and collected your supplies, you’re ready to start your project! Supplies You’ll Need: 8 oz. Dixie Belle Chalk Mineral Paint 8 oz. Gator Hide topcoat Blue Sponge (for topcoat) Brush Sanding Pad White Lightning Sponge (for white lightning) Painter’s tape Step 1: Dissolve the White Lightning in 1 gal of warm or hot water. Use a sponge to thoroughly clean the door. After the door is cleaned with White Lightning, rinse the door with clean, plain water. Make sure the door is dry. Step 2: Tape any area you don’t want to get any paint on. Apply 1 thin coat of paint. Let it dry. Bonus Tip: Use the sanding pad between coats of paint. Lightly go over the door with the sanding pad to get a smooth even finish. Step 3: Paint another thin coat of paint. Let it dry. Bonus tip: If it’s warm out and your brush is dragging you can mist your brush with water. Here's a quick video of me putting on the second coat of paint! Step 4: Stir the Gator Hide well. Take the dry blue sponge and dip the edge into the Gator Hide. Apply one THIN coat of Gator Hide, try not to go over the same spot. Let it dry. Add 1-2 more coats of Gator Hide. Use the scrubby soap to clean your brush.

Dixie Belle Paint Brushes Tips and Tricks Are you wondering “Why are these chalk paint brushes so expensive?”. I get it! I used to think the same thing! I want to give you all the details about what makes Dixie Belle Paint Brushes by far the best brushes out there! And they make your life so much easier! Who wouldn’t want that?!? Dixie Belle synthetic bristle brushes are my absolute favorite product! Dixie Belle synthetic brushes are hand made in the USA. They are made with the highest quality Dupont synthetic blend filaments. They have been specifically formulated to work with Dixie Belle Paint. There is just the right amount of polyester in our brush to provide that slight stiffness and general spring back you need without the brush collapsing. The nylon is what provides the softness and allows the paint to be released onto the surface. This keeps the brush in the best shape far longer than any other brush! One of the biggest differences between our brushes and other brushes is the density or fullness of the brush. There is more filament in each brush than you would find in a similar size brush from another brand. This helps with holding more paint and providing a better equal paint release. This is what makes your life so much easier! The smooth release of the paint onto your project or furniture provides amazing coverage with the least amount of work! No streaky application or coverage. The best beginner brush is the Small Oval brush. This brush is the best for any project or piece of furniture. It has a great shape to get paint onto every nook and cranny of your project. My favorite brush is the Mini Angle. It’s comfy to hold and covers a lot of area quickly! The bottom line is, the brush might be a bit of an investment, but will be well worth the money. You will have this brush to use for literally years to come, making it a wise investment for sure! How to Care for Your Dixie Belle Synthetic Brush: Clean with Scrubby Soap and warm water, rinse well. It’s best to dry the brush hanging down, handle at the top. (Do not store upside down) If bristles become deformed, use hot water and a blow dryer to activate the molecules inside the filaments and they will return to their original shape.
