Have you ever wondered why chalk paint can sometimes chip? Do you have a piece of furniture you’ve painted and it doesn’t turn out like you planned? I understand and sometimes it happens to me! I’ve discovered the most important factor in determining my end result is what I start with!
Let me explain! The first thing I do with my piece of furniture is to clean it with White Lightning. This is an another amazing Dixie Belle product. It’s inexpensive and goes a long way! Basically, all you need to do is spray it on and wipe off. When you're done cleaning the piece, wipe it with clean water so there's no residue left. Making sure your piece is clean is going to be the number factor in determining how well your paint will adhere to your piece. If there's any residue left on your piece of furniture, the paint can possibly chip off. A few tips to make your furniture cleaning a breeze. First, the White Lightning comes in a powder form. I measure out the amount I need for my spray bottle and mix it right in my bottle. I try to use lint free cloths. I use an old t-shirt cut up. It works perfectly. Don’t let the water form any puddles on the furniture. You’ll be amazed by what comes off that piece of furniture! Check out the picture below! Once your piece is dry, you’re ready to grab your favorite color of Dixie Belle Chalk Mineral Paint and start painting! There’s no other prep needed!
